Since May 1st 2004 Cyprus has been a full EU member giving you all the security and guarantees you can enjoy at home - freedom of movement, health benefits (the E111 form, now replaced by the EHIC covers emergency medical treatment in any EU state). Cyprus is unique in that it is virtually crime-free.
Cyprus is ideally placed in the Mediterranean being the gateway between the East and West. It has far more to offer the visitor and resident than any other island in the area with its wonderful mix of climate, culture, history, landscape, and the friendliest locals to be found anywhere in the world. A huge advantage is that English is widely spoken and understood throughout the island.

Take a short hop away from the endless coastline of sandy coves and beaches and you will enter a world of pine forests or drive a little further to the Troodos Mountains - you can even ski there in the wintertime.
In Roman times Paphos was the capital of Cyprus. It is the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of Love. Being ideally situated on the southwest coast it has the healthiest year-round climate in the Mediterranean with c.340 days of sunshine per year due to the fact that it is sheltered from the North by the Troodos Mountains.
It is away from all the hustle and bustle of other resorts and it has a charming fishing harbour as its focal point in Kato Paphos. There is a medieval archaeological site nearby and the harbour is full of tavernas and open-air restaurants serving mouth-watering delicacies, especially the locally caught seafood.
A new marina is presently being constructed between Kato Paphos and the picturesque Coral Bay. For Golf lovers Paphos boasts 3 Championship Golf Courses within a 20 km radius. The Tsada Golf Course is about 10 km from Paphos to the North East and Secret Valley Golf Course is about 15 km to the South. It is very close to the newly constructed Aphrodite Hills Golf Course.

Cyprus' proximity to The Holy Land, Egypt, and the Greek Islands make it an ideal base for taking short trips to visit these and other exotic places nearby.
